How this site handles information.

Information collected

The consultation request form collects the information you choose to provide, including your name, email, phone, a high-level matter category, jurisdiction, an optional letter code, an optional notice date, and an optional short summary.

The site and its hosting provider may also receive ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser type, request time, and requested page.

If you call, the firm's live answering service takes your name, callback number, and message and passes them to Mr. Powell.

How information is used

Information is used to review a consultation request, respond to you, maintain intake records, secure the site, and meet legal or professional obligations. The firm runs a conflict check before it agrees to represent you.

The firm does not sell or rent personal information. Information may be handled by service providers that support website hosting, email delivery, and telephone answering, or disclosed when required by law or needed to protect the firm, the site, or another person.

Prospective-client information

A form submission, call, or email does not create an attorney-client relationship or mean that the firm can represent you. The firm keeps what a prospective client sends confidential, whether or not it agrees to represent that person. Keep an initial submission high-level. Do not send documents, Social Security numbers, tax account numbers, detailed financial information, or other sensitive details unless the firm requests them through an approved method.

IRS Letter Check

The IRS Letter Check page and the IRS letter directory are informational. A notice or letter code typed into IRS Letter Check is processed in your browser. The site does not upload, store, log, or analyze the code you type, and the result is not transmitted anywhere.

Advertising and analytics

The consultation form and intake chat run on the firm's own code. No analytics or review scripts run on them. When you send a request, the site checks that your email domain can receive mail by querying a public DNS resolver; only the part of your address after the @ is sent. The request itself is delivered to Mr. Powell through the firm's transactional email provider. The site also keeps a short-lived record tied to your network address, held by the hosting provider, to limit automated submissions.

If Google Ads form measurement is configured, Google code is requested only after the firm's email provider accepts a consultation request. It runs in a separate, restricted frame that cannot read the consultation form or intake chat. The resulting conversion event does not include the form fields, name, email address, phone number, matter summary, or other intake contents. A direct visit or refresh of the confirmation page does not generate that event.

Calls placed from a Google advertisement may use a Google forwarding number so Google Ads can route and measure the call. Google Ads and the firm may receive call-reporting information, including start time, duration, caller country or area code, call status, source, campaign, ad group, keyword, and, for many calls lasting at least 15 seconds, the caller's phone number. The firm keeps call recording off for advertising measurement. Google Ads does not receive the substance of the call from the firm.

Retention and security

The firm keeps intake and technical information only as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including conflict checking, recordkeeping, legal obligations, and security. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
